My husband spent 30 years in Newark as a firefighter and this has been going on for years, the state abusing the pension, putting devoted men at risk in their retirement years. Its a total disgrace, these politicians don’t care!
Behind closed doors, the Division of Investment is gambling with your future. As of September 3, 2024, the fund holds $71.7 billion – but it’s only 43.5% funded, on average. That means if you retired tomorrow, nearly half of you would be left with nothing. This isn’t just mismanagement. It’s collapsing and it’s happening under a cloud of corruption and secrecy.
